The money raised through our 2024 Blue Jeans and BBQ supported our Community Paramedic Program and Recovery Support Services for Substance Use and Mental Health.

Many of our patients and their caregivers experience financial challenges while receiving the medical care they need to heal. Medical costs can quickly become an overwhelming burden. UNC Health Nash Foundation’s Patient Assistance Funds can help individuals and families in need with expenses related to their health. Such as medications, medical equipment, nutrition supplements, transportation assistance, clothing, home necessities, etc. This short-term assistance can help put their minds and hearts at ease, giving them the ability to focus on what is most crucial-restoring their health and well-being

Thanks to donors, the Foundation has been able to help increase the Community Paramedic Program from one full-time Community Paramedic to SIX full-time Community Paramedics.

In 2024, our Community Paramedics saw 1,335 patients and completed 5,564 visits. 

The Foundation partners with the Emergency Department (ED) and Coastal Plain Hospital (CPH) to support patients with substance use and mental health disorders, offering immediate behavioral health support and resources for recovery. Funds support a Certified Peer Support Specialist and expand outpatient resources, including care kits for patients discharged from the ED and CPH.
